The City of Lampasas has announced today that Gary W. Cox of Cibolo, Texas has been hired for the position of Assistant City Manager. Mr. Cox was chosen from a pool of over 55 applicants after a 6-week search process and will begin his duties with the City after the first of the year. Gary has most recently been serving as the Chief of Police and I.T. Director for the City of Cibolo and brings over 27-years’ municipal experience to Lampasas.
In addition to Gary’s law enforcement background, he has also served as Interim City Manager in Cibolo managing tasks and projects of a rapidly growing community. “Mr. Cox’s strengths in
public/private partnerships, water issues, development, capital budgeting and project management provided the broad background the City was looking for in an Assistant City Manager,” stated Finley deGraffenried, Lampasas City Manager.
Mr. Cox holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Administrative Law from Stephen F. Austin State University; and a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in Business Management and Interdisciplinary Studies, from the University of Houston-Victoria.
“We couldn’t be more pleased that Gary has agreed to come to Lampasas. Throughout the interview and background process we were pleased to learn of Gary’s ability to collaborate, manage tough issues and lead in diverse communities,” added deGraffenried.
